Broadway's Cotton, Bailey, Landman and Lee set for
Annie Get Your Gun

A host of Broadway performers will be part of the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities' upcoming production of the classic Irving Berlin musical Annie Get Your Gun.

Directed and choreographed by Jon Engstom, Annie Get Your Gun will play the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center May 2-20 with an official opening May 5. Dennis Castellano will be the show's musical director.

Heading the cast will be Misty Cotton (Miss Saigon) as the gun-toting Annie Oakley. She will be joined onstage by Kevin Bailey (The Lion King, Annie Get Your Gun) as Frank Butler, Heather Lee (Gypsy, Guys and Dolls) as Dolly Tate and Jeffrey Landman (Falsettos, Les Miz) as both Pawnee Bill and Foster Wilson. The company will also include Jeff Austin, Doug Bilitch, Brendan Brady, Sarah Brown, Travis Davidson, Esterban Delgado, David Grant and Lisaun Whittingham.

The ensemble comprises Chris Ciccarelli, Brad Fitzgerald, Casey Garritano, Corey Janecek, Katherine McLaughlin. Shanon Mair Mills, Lauren Muraida, Paige Jarvie, Jeff Parsons and Stepahine Renz.

The design team includes Christopher Beyries (scenic design) and Steven Young (lighting design).

The original production of Annie Get Your Gun — featuring a score by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields — opened at the Imperial Theatre in May 1946, playing 1,147 performances before closing Feb. 12, 1949. Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton starred. The most recent Broadway production — March 1999-Sept. 2001 — cast Bernadette Peters as Annie Oakley. Peters won her second Tony Award for her performance opposite Tom Wopat's Frank Butler. The Berlin score features such classic tunes as "There's No Business Like Show Business," "They Say It's Wonderful," "You Can't Get a Man with a Gun" and "I Got Lost in His Arms."

The Civic Light Opera production will feature book revisions by the late Peter Stone.

The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center is located at the corner of Aviation and Manhattan Beach Boulevard.

Tickets, priced $40-$60, are available by calling (310) 372-4477 or by visiting www.civiclightopera.com.
